Since his ownership, he has spent approximately $30,000 making this vehicle reliable and enjoyable to drive. The owner hired RM Garage, they are a classic car repair shop here in Jacksonville, Florida, for needed repairs. There is a summary of the repairs written by RM Garage below. Receipts are included in the records.
The Marti report suggest only 97 of the 1968 GT500 were painted Sunlit Gold. The sale includes a binder full of previous owner history, including copies of previous titles, original build sheet, Marti Report, notes and previous bills of sales, as well as some older service records as well as records of the below listed repairs by the current owner, original manuals, and other advertising memorabilia from that era. The current owner reached out to Pete Disher for an inspection, however Pete was unavailable but referred us to David Knecht for the inspection and his opinion. Here is a summary of David’s findings, a full report is available at the perspective buyer’s request.
David Knecht’s Summary:
“Vehicle 02675 is an excellent driving car and appears to have a great deal of original components to the car. The amount of paperwork this car has with it is extremely good, has an extensive documentation of work done over the years along with past ownership history, has the original build sheet and appears to have only one repaint and shows very well as a convertible, 4-speed, and air conditioning car.”
RM Garage Summary of Repairs:
"The RM team contacted Pete Discher from Lake Mills, Wisconsin and the owner of thecoralsnake.com for guidance in the direction of performing services on the vehicle to retain originality, function and overall value to the Shelby. We exchanged the tube Polyglas tires for modern radial tires to help with handling the road. Replacement of worn rubber suspension and steering parts was needed and serviced. Replacement of brake rubber hoses were needed due to age. Suspension springs and shocks were replaced, and new ones painted to factory colors per thecoralsnake.com website to go back with factory look. This enhanced and modernized the ride substantially after the alignment was performed. The exhaust had leaks at the manifolds. The manifolds were removed, inspected, made sure they were trued and straight and then cast blast painted to ensure a factory look and to retain the original parts. The exhaust piping was all replaced with factory replacement pipes and the original tips were reattached for originality. The team sent out the original carb for a factory rebuild to be performed at Holley. Cooling system heater valve was replaced, and the original radiator was removed and had core replaced to repair leaks. The hydraulic power steering assist cylinder and control valve were replaced along with the rubber soft lines due to leaks. The transmission was removed, and fluid exchanged to service. While apart the clutch was replaced with the same factory style heavy duty 12 inch x 1 3/8 in. 10 spline due to being worn. Parking brake front and rear cables were replaced, adjusted and
